About Bishop C.H. Mason’s Legacy
Bishop Charles Harrison Mason deserves to be remembered. He
stands out in history because of the expanse of his phenomenal
ministry, which was recognized by all races and classes of people
during his lifetime. He hails as the founder and first senior bishop of
the Church of God in Christ, one of the largest Pentecostal
denominations in the western world.
Bishop Mason was a leading pioneer within global Pentecostalism,
being an “alumnus” of the Azusa Street Revival, the founding event
of the Pentecostal movement. During his fifty-four year tenure as
senior bishop, the Church of God in Christ grew from 10
congregations to 4,000 congregations; from approximately 2,000
members to 400,000 members, and from churches within the
United States to churches on five continents.
There is so much to be learned from the spectacular life, ministry,
and witness of Bishop Mason. His achievements have yet to be fully
comprehended. The 150th anniversary of Bishop Mason’s birth should
be an occasion in which we rediscover him as the founder of a great
denomination, an evangelist of high stature, a supporter of world
missions, a friend of education, a champion of pacifism, and an advocate
of civil rights.

26 I have declared my ways, and thou heardest me: teach me thy statutes. 27 Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works. 28 My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word. 29 Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously. 30 I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments have I laid before me. 31 I have stuck unto thy testimonies: O Lord, put me not to shame. 32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart. 33 Teach me, O Lord, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. 34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. 35 Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight. 36 Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. 37 Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way. 38 Stablish thy word unto thy servant, who is devoted to thy fear. 39 Turn away my reproach which I fear: for thy judgments are good. 40 Behold, I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy righteousness. 41 Let thy mercies come also unto me, O Lord, even thy salvation, according to thy word.
God can speak to us in many ways. He simply uses the words in the Bible. We are encouraged to follow God’s instructions for life through these words. The Word lists the many blessings that flow out of Scriptures in the Bible. God’s Word brings happiness. God’s Word gives life. God Word reassures us of his promises. God’s Word shows us salvation.
The Apostle Paul once shared with Timothy why the Bible was so important. He indicated that The Scriptures have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. The Words in the Scripture are inspired by God. They are used to teach us what is true and to make us realize in writing what is not right in our lives. It straightens us out and puts us on the right path.
Let us rejoice in the blessings that come from obeying God’s Word!

On July 9, 2012, Minister Kevin Dixon accompanied the National Church of God in Christ Missions Department on a missions trip to Guyana, Africa. Below are excerpts of an email sent and pictures of the trip. God is blessing and saving all around the world!

Just wanted to drop you a quick note and see how everything’s going back in Akron. Got to Guyana last night pretty late and IT IS HOT!! We had a good day today with the people in the community. 17 kids got saved in the VBS and two men, the only two in our men’s class did also. Felt a lot like Saturday church with a few extra things to minister to the people. But I’m with a really good ministry team; most of them actually know my parents and extended family from Indy. So that was a blessing all by itself. I think the funniest thing I’ve seen so far and didn’t expect was there’s a church on every corner just about like in the US. Assembly of God, Church of God, 7th Day Adventist, Catholic churches were all along the ride in from the airport and across town.
Miss all of you. Give everyone a hug for me when you get back to church this sat and sun.
But be blessed. Will be in touch. Pray for us

Didn’t realize it was so close to the end of the week already. Hope you get a chance to show these at Sat and Sun church in the morning, and give everyone an update. Picture is with mayor of Georgetown in green shirt, loading the vans, outdoor service and kids playing game of cricket after VBS.
But everyday several people get saved, and the kids have a real heart for church. It’s been a good trip so far..
